Alexis C. was judged to have the most creative entry in Media Safety Poster Contest and wins a brand-new laptop!
Wow, you guys are really into media safety! (*wink, wink*)
OK, the tremendous response to our Media Safety Poster Contest might have had a little something to do with the really nice prizes that we were offering as well! But whatever it was, you guys really responded and impressed us tremendously with your knowledge of dangers that youth face online or when using media devices.
But, from among the more than 700 entries received, we could have only one grand prize winner in our teen and youth catergories in the contest. And after some really hard decisions on the part of our judges, it was Alexis C. of Camp Pendleton's (Calif.) Youth and Children's Program Club who won the top prize in the teen catergory. Alexis' design will be reproduced and mailed to all Clubs to remind them of the importance of Internet and media safety! (Can't wait for the poster to arrive? Download it here!)
Alexis wins a brand new laptop for her entry, "Help Prevent Cyberbullying. " Ava L., of the BGCs of South Puget Sound (Wash.) was the second place winner and Marquess T., also of South Puget Sound, takes home the third place prize.
In the youth division (6-12), Allen B. (10) of BGCs of King County (Rotary Boys & Girls Club) won for "Beware When You Share." He wins a brand new Kindle reader! BONUS! Download a copy of Allen's poster here -- hang this in your Club, too!
Luke F. (11), of BGCS of Martin County (Port Salerno Branch), wins second place for his entry, "Who Am I Really?" And Edith L. (10) , of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver ( J. Churchill Owen Branch), wins third place for her entry "Where's Your Personal Information?"
Congratulations to all of our winners and a big thanks to all who entered the contest. And keep spreading the word about Internet and media safety to your fellow Club members and teens!
