It's the moment you've waited for all year long -- National Keystone Conference has FINALLY kicked off! More than 1,800 teens and advisors have converged on Atlanta for what is going to be a record-breaking conference. This is the biggest Keystone Conference in history!
As soon as we entered the door of the ballroom, the Keystoners' enthusiasm was amazing and very powerful. All of the teens were so pumped up to get things started, from the “wave” to cheering the states they were representing.
The inspirational message that our President and CEO Jim Clark gave empowered every teen in the room. This made me believe even more in the mission of the Boys and Girls Club of America and how every single teen can actually become a leader.
You can describe the first performer of the conference in one word -- AMAZING! Jordin Sparks’ performance was not only very entertaining but had a powerful message to the teens: “You can all change the world.” With her encouraging lyrics from “One Step at a Time,” I know us teens will make effective choices by not rushing decisions.
After Jordin's performance, teens spread out across the hotel enjoying the evening activities. Teens enjoyed the photo booth, made their own T-shirts, challenged each other at carnival games and made new friends. Some teens made the short trip to play basketball and volleyball at Georgia Tech's state-of-the-art athletic center!
Earlier in the day, 25 teens participated in the myclubmylife.com Teen Reporter training. We are now armed with assignments and cameras, so be on the lookout for more great articles from reporters all conference long!
