The winners are in for our second Scavenger Hunt contest and Javarious H. is awarded a Kindle as the grand prize winner
Innovation pays off! The people who created Facebook, Apple, etc. would say so! And so would the winners in our second Teen Tech Innovation Scavenger Hunt contest!
We asked you to check out what our Clubs are up to in their frequent updates in the TTI section and submit answers in the contest. Javarious H. of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida (Universal Orlando Foundation Branch) was randomly selected as the grand prize winner of a new Kindle for answering all four questions correctly! Marcus D. of Al Davies BGC (Washington) wins a $100 gift certificate for second place and Shequarria J. of BGC of Central Florida. wins a $50 gift certificate for third place.
The answers to all four of the questions in the contest are listed below:
1. What items are the BGC of Murray (Utah) selling to raise money for their project? Answer: T-shirts
2. Radio BGC sponsored by Haslam Family Center Club (Tenn.) has been quite the hit! But teen radio journalist Ian was totally wrong about the destination of this NBA star who was traded during the season! Where did he think Carmelo Anthony was going? Answer: To the Los Angeles Lakers
3. The BGC of Van Buren (Ark.) say they took hundreds of shots of headstones for their project. In the final shot of these headstones, what kind of soldier is mentioned as being buried in that grave? Answer: Unknown Confederate soldier
4. The BGC of Carbondale's members are playing with what kind of pet in their video? Answer: A cat
Also, the winning ideas for ways that technology can enhance service contest were chosen by your poll votes! The top idea, submitted by the BGCs of Greater New Bedford (Mass.), was to use 'Google Voice to create a confidential tip line for youth and teens to call for advice and help' (after garnering nearly 4,000 votes). The Club wins $100 for its effort!
- The second place idea was to 'Create a Facebook page to advertise your community service efforts and to recruit others.' It was submitted by Al Davies BGC (South Puget Sound of Washington). They win a $50 prize.
- The third place idea, also submitted by Al Davies BGC, was 'Create video testimonials to share with others to support something.' The Club wins an additional $25 for this idea.
