We start the year in the Chillest fashion, with a year of dreams, ambitions and fun just lying in wait!
It's a new year. The Chill is still sizzling! What are your resolutions? Don't wish too hard or too crazy -- you know in the Mayan calendar, 2012 is the year where stuff goes kerplooey! The Chill don't believe in such stuff. But just in case, we're keeping a suitcase handy!
KD so nice, we must name him twice! Our favorite Club alum, NBA supastar Kevin Durant is off to a hot start again -- did ya peep that 35-footer he beat the Dallas Mavericks with last week? KD is nice -- yep, MVP nice! Yeah, we said it! But we've gotta to find him an exclsuive Chill Spot nickname -- K-Dizzle comes to mind! Help us out here.
The NFL playoffs runneth over! Tebowmania has cooled off since his team has lost two straight but the Broncos are in the playoffs this weekend as the madness begins. Plus there are more good games like the Giants-Falcons! And then the big boys, Brees and Brady and football A-Rod (Aaron Rodgers) next weekend! It's going to be Super Bowlicious soon!
A new start -- from the start! Kudos to new BGCA prez Jim Clark for sitting down with Teen Reporter Damian in Hartford, Conn. this week (see picture above)! It was his first day on the job -- a symbolic start at a Club where the first Club was formed over 160 years ago! -- and he thought enough of myclubmylife.com to have a talk with Club youth!
The wild college bowl season! OK, the wildly named bowls were kinda fun and there were some crazy games -- RG III was doing the Heisman pose all over that absurdly high-scoring game between Baylor and U-Dub! But the BCS championship game takes place on Monday for the big crystal ball! Who ya got, 'Bama or LSU? Rest assured, defense will win championships in this one!
C-Breezy, still teaching! It's amazing to ponder but we are still learning from the Chris Brown-Rihanna incident of a couple years back. Or, evidently, not learning! According to NPR and a recent poll conducted by the Boston Public Health Commission, nearly half the teenagers blame or fault Rihanna for the incident. NPR notes that one in five teenagers report dating violence and that 23.6 of women reported they suffered domestic violence at some point in their lives. If you are still unclear about what constitutes relationship violence, please talk to your parents, Club staff or some other trusted adult! Get educated and don't fall in with abusers. Repeat after me -- no one, male or female -- deserves to be physically harmed because of something said in the course of a relationship! Love does not mean violence is acceptable! Ever!
