Youth of the Year Ambassadors Settle In
The four outstanding teens reach their respective European military bases

Shonnetta Henry from Germany
This week was my first week with the teens inside of the teen center and man was it fun. Teen centers here are different from the states in the fact that they have camps instead of an assortment of programs each day.
So this week was their adventure camp. There were a variety of different activities. From swimming to rock climbing to shopping, I had a great time with these teens. One particularly fun activity was rock climbing.

This wasn’t your average indoor climb on a wall with synthetic rock handholds -- this was the real deal on the side of a mountain rock-climbing. I reached for a crack in the wall that was clearly too high for me to reach but I went for it anyway. At that point I slipped and swung out about six feet! Talk about scary!
I have been having the time of my life. When I’m not doing cool things with the teens, like painting a game for their 4th of July fundraiser, I get the chance to explore the culture.
In Mainz I visited the Guttenburg museum and got rained on but my favorite was the Dom. The Dom is this church with amazing artifacts. It was a truly unique experience.
Demetrice Tuttle In Italy
Man, this past week has been full of great Italian food, warm welcomes and ended with a wet, but fun 4th of July celebration here at Aviano. Let me tell you, you haven’t had pizza until you’ve had Italian pizza! (And you thought Domino's was GOOD).
The week also came with a lot of work and I and other Keystoners are planning two big projects for the summer: a summer dance and a teen talk show called “BE REAL.” We are working non-stop because, in two-and-a-half weeks, my time here is up! The week ended, though, with a great tour (after I took an Italian Culture course) around the surrounding area to see a true bee-keeper who bottles honey, a 115-meter deep cave under a pond, a train ride to a traditional Italian market and cathedral. Man, I love Italy! I’ll keep you posted on more to come!
