World famous recording artist Usher is great enough to be an icon. And that's what he urged many others to strive to become.
Raymond Usher IV, simply known as Usher as he has sold millions of albums worldwide, is pitching in to give back to the Clubs. He attended the Club growing up in Chattanooga, Tenn. and learned quickly that his talents lie in places other than the ball fields.
"He was so excited about joining the football team at the Club and begged me to come watch him play," said his mother, Jonetta Patton. "But when I finally came to the game, he was there on the sidelines eating cookies. I think he soon realized that maybe he should stick to singing."
Usher, 28, was recently inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame. Usher and his mom, both Atlanta natives, dropped by BGCA headquarters to see the unveiling his Be Iconic billboard that is part of the Be Great advocacy campaign.
