Body Mass Index (BMI) is calculated from your weight and height and provides a general indication if your weight falls within a healthy range. There are four BMI categories:
- Underweight: less than the 5th percentile
- Healthy weight: between the 5th and 85th percentiles
- At risk for overweight: Between the 85th and 95th percentiles
- Overweight: Higher than the 95th percentile
Too much body fat is a problem as it can lead to health problems. If your BMI indicates that you are over or under weight, you may want to contact your physician for advice.
